Randy Hubbs Remembered After Fatal Midair Skydiving Collision Near Ritzville, Washington, On Sunday Evening
Randy Hubbs, a Kennewick-area community member, died after a midair skydiving collision during a group jump at West Plains Skydiving near Ritzville, Washington.
The incident happened Sunday evening in the 2000 block of East Schoessler Road, just north of Ritzville, under clear conditions.
Authorities said emergency dispatchers received a call around 5:30 p.m. about a serious medical situation involving two skydivers during descent.
Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies confirmed that two jumpers collided in the air, leaving Hubbs deceased and Nicole Klein of the Colville area with injuries reported as not life-threatening.
Investigators believe Hubbs lost control of the parachute after the collision, drifted away from the landing zone, and disappeared beyond a nearby hill.
West Plains Skydiving staff tracked the descent, and officials said weather did not appear to be a factor as the investigation continues.
Hubbs was known in the Tri-Cities area as a real estate investor and longtime music educator with deep ties to local schools and community bands.
Memorial and funeral service details will be announced later by family members.
