Isaiah Thomas, a 36-year-old resident of Thibodaux, Louisiana, tragically passed away on the night of May 7, 2025, following a devastating multi-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 308 in Lafourche Parish.
The collision, which occurred just before 9:00 p.m., involved four vehicles and resulted in severe damage to Thomas’s 2014 Kia Optima. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Thomas, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The incident unfolded after a Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop Thomas, who was reportedly wanted in connection with an ongoing investigation. During the brief pursuit, Thomas continued driving at high speed before attempting to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone, which led to the fatal head-on collision with a 2021 Honda Accord.
While other drivers involved in the crash sustained minor injuries or remained unharmed, the tragedy has left the Thibodaux community heartbroken. “Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this tragic loss,” one online commenter shared.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, with toxicology samples collected for further analysis.
Isaiah Thomas’s passing serves as a somber reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the importance of seatbelt use in preventing tragic outcomes.
