Jonathon Porras, a 20-year-old motorcyclist, tragically lost his life in a two-vehicle collision in Long Beach on the evening of July 3, 2025. The accident occurred around 9:20 p.m. at the intersection of Downey Avenue and South Street.
Porras was riding a 2008 Honda CBR motorcycle with a female passenger when they were struck by a 2012 Toyota 4Runner that was turning left onto Downey Avenue. Porras was found on the southbound lanes of Downey Avenue, while his passenger was discovered nearby on the sidewalk. Despite the efforts of paramedics, Porras was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger, whose identity and condition remain unknown, was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities are investigating speed and distracted driving as potential factors in the tragic accident. The Long Beach Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward.
Friends and loved ones of Jonathon Porras have expressed their heartbreak over his untimely passing. "A bright light gone too soon," one mourner wrote. Another posted, "Jonathon will be missed by so many. My heart goes out to his family."
