Danita Simmons, Beckley, WV Family Seeks Support After Sudden Loss

Beckley, WV—Danita Simmons, a beloved member of the Beckley community, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday due to heart complications, leaving her family in deep mourning. Danita was a mother of eight, with two of her children still quite young, aged 11 and 13. Her passing has left her family not only grieving but also struggling to manage the financial burden of her memorial services.

While her illness was known, Danita’s passing has still come as a heartbreaking shock to her loved ones. Makayla Green, her daughter, shared on social media, "I truly hate to be the one to make this post. And I’m sure most of you know by now, but my mom Danita Simmons passed away Tuesday. While we all knew she was very sick, this is still very unexpected, and we were not prepared to lose her so soon." Makayla further explained that Danita’s children are now responsible for covering all expenses, which has created significant financial strain on the family.

In response to this sudden loss, a GoFundMe has been organized by Chelsey Wood to help offset the costs associated with Danita’s cremation, a small memorial service, and travel expenses for two of her children. As of today, the fundraiser has raised $170 of its $1,500 goal from five kind donors. Contributions continue to come in, with support from the community pouring in during this difficult time.

Many have taken to Facebook to express their condolences and offer prayers. Joy Saunders shared, "Prayers for yall love yall," while Amber Johns added, "I am praying for all of you, I have very fond memories of my teen years with you, Gabby, and Danielle, and DeeDee! Love you guys!" Paul Salnikoff and Kim Ellen also expressed their heartfelt sympathies, with Kim adding, "My heart has absolutely been breaking for you all… Dee was such a kind person, sorry about your loss."

The outpouring of support from friends and family continues to provide some solace during this challenging time. Those who wish to contribute to the memorial expenses can do so through the GoFundMe campaign or other payment platforms listed by the family.
