Sarah Jean Begay Azhocar, Albuquerque, NM— The community is mourning the loss of Sarah Jean Begay Azhocar, a beloved mother and cherished member of the Navajo Nation. Sarah passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, surrounded by her family at the Presbyterian Rust Medical Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She had been battling liver issues, which led to a rapid decline in her health and, eventually, multi-organ failure.

Sarah, the mother of four and the youngest of ten siblings, was known for her deep love and care for her family. Her daughter, Victoria Azhocar, who had been estranged from her for years, had recently reconnected with her mother. This reconnection brought healing through heartfelt conversations, laughter, and shared memories over the past year.

Victoria has organized a fundraiser to support Sarah’s cremation services and a celebration of life in her honor. The family is deeply grateful for any assistance offered during this difficult time, as it will help them give Sarah the meaningful farewell she deserves.

Frank Kellywood and Brandon Montoya have generously contributed $100 and $111, respectively, to the fund, showing early support for the Azhocar family during this time of grief.
