James Howar, 42, Remembered After Cates Bay Highway Motorcycle Collision In Horry County On Sunday Night
James Howar, a 42-year-old Conway resident, lost their life after a motorcycle and pickup truck collided on Cates Bay Highway in Horry County on Sunday night, May 10, 2026.
The crash happened around 8:15 p.m. when James was riding a motorcycle that crossed the center line and met an oncoming pickup truck, according to the Highway Patrol account shared in the post.
First responders took James to a hospital in the Grand Strand area, where medical staff worked to help after the serious crash.
Tamara Willard of the Horry County Coroner’s Office confirmed that James later passed away at the facility.
The pickup truck driver reported no physical harm, and officials had not announced a final cause as of the May 12, 2026 report.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to review the circumstances, including road conditions and the motorcycle.
Memorial service details will be announced later by the family.
