Marcos Hernandez Perez, 26, of Madera, California, tragically lost their life in a multi-vehicle crash on Saturday near the intersection of Highways 41 and 145.
Perez was driving a Dodge Challenger with passenger Leslany Santoyo, 23, of Merced, when the vehicle lost control, crossed into oncoming traffic, and collided head-on with a Honda CR-V.
The violent impact was followed by a secondary collision involving a Honda Accord traveling in the same westbound direction. Both Perez and Santoyo, who were wearing seatbelts, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities arrested the drivers and passengers involved, clarifying initial confusion about who fled the scene. The investigation remains active as the California Highway Patrol continues to determine the full circumstances surrounding the accident.
