Michelle L. Birdsong And Walter E. Birdsong Jr. Remembered After Fatal Rankin County Incident Linked To Seven-Year Family Land Dispute

Michelle L. Birdsong, 43, and Walter E. Birdsong Jr., 62, died in Rankin County, Mississippi, after a Friday afternoon incident near the 1400 block of Monterey Road.

The report said the event began just before 4 p.m. in the Florence area and followed a seven-year dispute over family land.

Authorities identified Kurt Tyler Birdsong, Walter’s brother, as the person involved, and officials later found Kurt deceased inside a bathroom after a standoff at a residence on the property.

SWAT teams, negotiators, armored vehicles, the FBI, and ATF assisted local authorities as they reviewed the final moments of the Birdsong family tragedy.

Walter E. Birdsong Jr. was remembered for continuing W.E. Birdsong & Associates, a business known for careful craftsmanship and a long-standing local reputation.

Michelle L. Birdsong was remembered with Walter as the community mourned two lives lost in a deeply painful family tragedy.
