Robert Thomas Veld, a 52-year-old resident of New Era, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, following a tragic car accident in Oceana County.

The incident occurred on U.S. 31 near South 66th Avenue in Shelby Township. Authorities reported that icy road conditions and excessive speed led to Veld losing control of his northbound Chevrolet TrailBlazer. The vehicle spun off the road, rolled over in the median, and Veld was ejected from the vehicle. Tragically, he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
