Sarah J. Geressy Remembered After May 21, 2026 Head-On Collision On State Road 39 In La Porte County
The Burns Harbor community mourns 41-year-old Sarah J. Geressy, who passed away on Wednesday afternoon after a head-on collision in La Porte County, Indiana.
Authorities said the incident happened around 4:02 p.m. on State Road 39, just south of County Road 1500 South.
Investigators reported that Sarah traveled north in a red 2013 Hyundai Sonata when it collided with a gray 2015 Jeep Wrangler.
Emergency crews arrived quickly, and officials pronounced Sarah at the scene despite their efforts.
Officials identified the Jeep driver as 23-year-old Grace E. Crone of La Porte, who received medical care for lower-body injuries.
The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, Westville Police Department, Hanna and Noble Township Volunteer Fire Departments, La Porte County EMS, the Coroner’s Office, and other first responders assisted at the scene.
Authorities continue to review the circumstances, and pending lab results remain part of that process.
Memorial and funeral service details will be announced later by family members.
