Tammie Joe Baker Remembered After Dunlawton Avenue Ramp Toll Booth Crash In Daytona Beach Shores, Florida
Tammie Joe Baker, 62, died after a pickup truck crashed into the Dunlawton Avenue ramp toll booth in Daytona Beach Shores just before 1 p.m. on Monday.
Baker served on duty with the county’s parking operations contract team and carried out a normal shift when the truck struck the booth.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Baker did not survive the harm caused by the crash.
Officials identified the pickup driver as Deanna Harrell of Ormond Beach and said officers took that person into custody after the incident.
Investigators said the driver allegedly tried to leave the area, and officials later placed the person under a mental health hold while the review continued.
The beach access ramp closed after the crash as investigators examined the scene and worked to determine how the incident happened.
